A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MAINTENANCE WORKER / CUSTODIAN

As a Maintenance Worker / Custodian, you perform the essential duties that maintain our buildings and grounds. Under the direction of your supervisor, you complete maintenance tasks and custodial work that keep our facilities clean and comfortable. You perform regular building, grounds, and equipment inspections and make notes of all necessary repairs and upkeep in detailed logs. Responding quickly to requests, you perform tasks such as repairing minor wall damage, replacing light bulbs, and troubleshooting various equipment issues.

You diligently follow a schedule of daily, weekly, and monthly custodial duties, using cleaning materials and tools to maintain our work environment. Attentive to supply levels, you restock cleaning, bathroom, and kitchen supplies as well as wash laundry and change bed and bath linens according to an occupancy schedule. You are eager to help others, which you do so by moving furniture and equipment, assisting with shipping and receiving, and performing other functions such as purchasing items from hardware and grocery stores. You take great pride in upkeeping our buildings and grounds and helping our employees be successful!


QUALIFICATIONS FOR A MAINTENANCE WORKER / CUSTODIAN

  • 2+ years of custodial and basic maintenance experience
  • Experience as a maintenance worker or similar position
  • Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools
  • Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
  • Proficiency with basic computer skills
  • Ability to occasionally work nights and weekends
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Shipping and receiving experience would be preferred but is not required. Experience with operating a forklift would be a bonus. Are you a strong and clear communicator?
