As an optical technician, you are key to running our telescopes, which is critical to our operation. Every shift, you work on the maintenance of mirrors and electronics that are key to how our mirrors move and bring in data from the observing process. You work quite closely with our electronics engineers and optics team and follow through with duties as assigned. You assist with technical support of the facility's astronomical instruments and optical, electronic, and mechanical systems. This includes fabrication, installation, optical alignment, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. You ensure that everything is in good operating condition, available to observe with, and safe. You feel great knowing your efforts keep our operations running smoothly!

  • AS degree in lasers, optics, opto-mechanics, electronics OR engineering degree OR equivalent and relevant experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a highly technical or science operation environment
